Product Review: Basic Golf ClassicCool Golf Shirt
product review by nicksgolfpalace.com
My closet contains an assortment of shirts that I have bought while living in Michigan and in Florida. But it wasn't until I had been living in Florida for awhile, that I realized that the majority of my shirts were horrible in the heat and humidity!
It didn't take me long to find a solution, however. I started buying a few shirts that claimed to be breathable and lightweight. These shirts worked great! They work because they wick away moisture from your skin. This allows me to keep cool and to stay comfortable, whether I'm golfing, or out on the town. I have no problem finding shirts with this type of technology, but the cost for these shirts is extravagant. I only have a few of them because paying $70 or more for a shirt can hurt your pocketbook, especially if your on a budget, like I am!
Ed Lemire, President of Basic Golf, contacted me recently asking if I would like to try one of their golf shirts. I have been contacted by numerous companies asking me to try out different products and what I have discovered, is sometimes the product is not as good as made out to be. But I am always willing to try a product with an open mind and that's what I have done with the golf shirt that Ed sent me.
I wasn't sure which shirt Ed would be sending me, so prior to receiving my new shirt, I went over to the Basic Golf website to see what they had available. They have 2 styles of shirts. One style is called the SportCool Golf Shirt, and the other is called ClassicCool. The SportCool shirts come in 3 colors, Limone, White, and Navy, whereas the ClassicCool is available in Ice Blue and Wasabi Green. They both use CoolDry™ fabric to keep you cool. From the pictures, they looked very nice and I liked the fact that they are athletically cut. None of my other breathable shirts are made like that. But what really caught my attention was the prices. Both shirts were nearly half what I paid for my name brand shirts! But, did the lower prices mean lower quality, I wondered?
When I opened the box that my new shirt and hat were delivered in, I was immediately surprised. My new shirt was the ClassicCool shirt in the Wasabi Green color. The SportCool has a zip in the front, while the ClassicCool shirts have buttons. I didn't care about that, I just wanted to give it a test run. And that's just what I did.
After a round of golf in the middle of the afternoon, with the heat index over 100 degrees, I no longer was wondering about the quality of this shirt. These shirts are top notch and I have to say, that I have never been more comfortable in a shirt before, especially playing golf. The way the shirt is designed it's extremely durable and it really allows you to move freely. When I got done with my round, I stepped into the clubhouse and looked at my face in a mirror and my forehead was beaded up with sweat but my shirt, believe it or not, was dry to the touch! I was totally impressed, and I am certainly going to be ordering a few more.
I have been totally convinced now that you can get cool looking, top quality merchandise for reasonable prices. I want to thank Ed Lemire, over at Basic Golf, for allowing me to try their product. And to my readers I want to say, check out Basic Golf! I wasn't disappointed and I'm sure you won't be either.

Tiger Woods-A Billionaire by 2010
Supposedly, Tiger Woods, according to a new Forbes report, is on track to become the first billionaire athlete. He should accomplish that feat by the year 2010. What does that mean for those who endorse Tiger? If he, as Tiger Woods, will make a billion dollars, his sponsors will make a whole lot more than that by 2010? He is an investment, and a pretty good one, if I must say so myself. Unbelievable!
I like how Jay Busbee, from the Golf Expert Blog, put it. He put into perspective just how much money Tiger Woods actually makes, by breaking it down per year, per day, per hour, per minute, per second. He summed it up this way: First of all, he will make $100 million this year! And that, my friends, breaks down to:
$273,972 a day,
$11,415.53 an hour,
$190 a minute,
and $3.17 a second.
Jay makes this quote, "That means, hypothetically speaking, if Tiger was walking up the fairway in a tournament and saw a $10 bill lying there, he'd make more money by walking right past it."
Phew! And we thought he was only chasing Jack's old records. No, he is looking to make some new ones of his own, too! WOW!

King Golf is growing fast and their is a reason for that! They have some great products!King Golf is dedicated to the game of golf, the etiquette of golf, and to the values that make the game of golf truly special. They respect tradition, but at the same time they add style and class.
They have a vast array of of items that appeal to all types of golfers and people..even to those that don't love golf, yet!
Here is their mission statement:"Our ultimate mission is to make a difference in the game of golf and life by appealing to REAL people and issues that interest them. Along with traditional products, we will always offer fresh and unique items/apparel to appeal to everyone. Our Dog Tags for kids is a perfect example of what separates us from the rest!
Our company, products and mission are a great compliment to every golf course, golfer, pro shop, retailer and/or charity that promotes awareness of important issues. We think, by working together, the values of our game will help benefit everyone!"
I've had a chance to study some of the history of this company and I am amazed at how determined Corey and his crew have been to get King Golf going. And they are not slowing down! On a regular basis they are sponsoring more and more Professional Golfers, such as Leah Wigger, who won on the Duramed FUTURES Tour, and who is also a non-exempt rookie on the LPGA Tour. Other Professionals that are sponsored by King Golf include Mike Perry, Scott Alpi, and PJ Palmer.

Understanding Shaft Flex
Having the proper shaft flex for your golf clubs is very important. If you missed my article about shaft length, then click here.
When you swing a golf club, you put a certain amount of torque on it causing it to bend. If the torque you put on the shaft causes it to bend a lot, then the club is not stiff enough for you. If it doesn't bend at all, it possibly may be too stiff for you.
A GENERIC WAY TO PICK THE RIGHT FLEX
Answer the following question: How far do you carry your driver, not including roll?
250 yards or more: Stiff Flex (S)
230-250 yards: Regular Flex (R)
200-230 yards: Senior Flex (A)
200 yards or less: Ladies Flex (L)
The really big hitters will use Extra Stiff. However, most golfers will use S, R, A, or L flex.
OTHER THINGS THAT MAY AFFECT SHAFT FLEX
Before you go and buy a club, or clubs, with the above flex that fits your driver distance, or before you completely change out your shafts in your clubs, there are some other things you will want to check first. Check with your local golf store to see if you can demo some drivers with different shaft flex's. As an example, let's say the distance you can carry your driver is 240 yards, then you should consider a regular flex. But if your drives, with a regular shaft, have a tendency to go to the left, then try a stiffer flex. If your golf ball travels to the right, then try a softer flex.
Picking the shaft flex that gives you the straightest drive should be our main concern. Distance is important, but for mid to high handicappers they should be concerned with making sure the golf ball stays on the fairway. So, make sure you pick the right flex that helps to improve your game.
The best way to make sure you have the correct shaft flex is to be fitted by a golf professional or a custom golf fitter.
Another aspect of the shaft that we want to consider, since it governs how high or how low a club will hit, is the shaft tip. I will post another article later, that explains high kick point, mid kick point, and low kick point.
